NEW BEGINNINGS PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

Program Purpose: To assist participants in gaining the education and skills necessary to obtain and maintain permanent housing; and to provide on-going support services to the household.
Program Description: Provides housing to homeless families and individuals. The program provides some food, clothing, and hygiene items on a need basis. The program provides some assistance with furnishings, on a need basis, from donations to the furniture assistance program.
In 2011, Permanent Supportive Housing served 14 people - 11 adults & 3 children.
Eligibility & Program Requirements:
- Homeless per HUD’s definition for HUD TH and Ohio Department of Development subsidized units
- HUD TH subsidized units have a maximum stay of 2 years
- Low income at 50% of median for HOME subsidized units and at or below 80% of median for remaining units
- Pass criminal record check
- Must agree to actively participate in services geared to developing self-sufficiency skills in order to secure permanent housing, and to learn how to maintain housing
- No alcohol use on premises, and or no use at all based on service plan agreement
- No drug use (verified by evidence based request for drug testing)
- No weapons
- Cannot move in new household members without YWCA approval and modification of the lease
Cost: Rent is based on HOME guidelines for unsubsidized units. For HUD subsidized or Ohio Department of Development subsidized units, rents are based on household income, and does not exceed 30% of income. Heat, air-conditioning, electric, water, and sewer are included in the rent charge.
