Heart of Stark: YWCA’s Sip & Stroll brought Canton community together

CANTON, August 5, 2021

A few weeks ago, the community flooded the streets of downtown Canton to enjoy the local downtown shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants that opened their doors for a good cause— YWCA Canton’s Sip & Stroll Fundraiser.

The Sip and Stroll was an opportunity for the community to come together and explore downtown while stopping at more than 25 local participating businesses for food, beverages and raffles along their “stroll.” Proceeds from the fundraiser surpassed the organization’s goal, and more than $26,000 was raised to directly support the critical services that the YWCA provides for those in need.

The YWCA has been a part of the Canton community for more than 100 years, providing emergency shelter for hundreds of homeless individuals each year, while helping them get back on their feet with the tools to become self-sufficient.

The organization also offers early care and education services for young children that enhances their development and prepares them to be successful as they transition to kindergarten.

The funds from this event help the YWCA continue to impact and uplift the vulnerable residents of our community.

As the community’s trusted partner in giving, Stark Community Foundation helps individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits achieve their philanthropic goals through a variety of charitable funds and strategic initiatives.
